Risk of basal cell carcinoma in a randomized clinical trial of aspirin and folic acid for the prevention of colorectal adenomas
British Journal of Dermatology Jun 23, 2018
Passarelli NM, et al. - Researchers assessed whether folic acid is related to the risk of basal cell carcinoma (BCC). A statistically significant impact on risk of BCC could not be demonstrated by either aspirin or folic acid treatment. As per data, the chemopreventive effects of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs was specific to those at high risk for BCC. In those without previous skin cancer, BCC risk was higher with aspirin use, however, in those with previous skin cancer, it was lower with aspirin use.
