Risk of all-cause mortality in diabetic patients taking β-blockers
Mayo Clinic Proceedings Mar 16, 2018
Tsujimoto T, et al. - The correlation between the use of β-blockers and all-cause mortality was comprehensively analyzed by the experts in patients with and without diabetes. In contrast with diabetic participants not taking a β-blocker, all-cause mortality appeared to be substantially higher in diabetic participants taking any β-blocker, taking a β1-selective β-blocker or taking a specific β-blocker. Hence, it was inferred that the use of β-blockers could be related to an increased risk of mortality for patients with diabetes and among the subset presenting with coronary heart disease.
