Risk factors of traditional serrated adenoma and clinicopathologic characteristics of synchronous conventional adenoma
Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Jul 01, 2019
Kim J, et al. - Via reviewing records of 31,932 healthy subjects who had colonoscopy screening in a single hospital between 2012 and 2017, researchers studied traditional serrated adenoma (TSA) prevalence and risk factors and compared the features of synchronous conventional adenoma (AD) in TSA patients to those of AD only in AD patients. In 116 patients, TSA was noted. Data reported that TSA prevalence in healthy adults was 0.4%. Results of this study suggested that age ≥50 years, hypertension, and current smoking can be TSA risk factors. Synchronous AD is frequently noted with TSA and may be more advanced than in patients with AD-only.
