Risk factors of early rebleeding in the endoscopic management of colonic diverticular bleeding
Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology May 25, 2019
Honda H, et al. - Using multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression, researchers determined the risk factors for early rebleeding following initial colonoscopy. In total, 370 patients with colonic diverticular bleeding (CDB) were divided on the basis of initial colonoscopy as having presumptive (229) or definite CDB with recent hemorrhage stigmata (141). The endoscopic clipping (EC) and endoscopic band ligation (EBL) groups had 38 and 103 patients respectively. In 61 cases, early rebleeding occurred. Investigators found that most early rebleeding took place after initial colonoscopy within 5 days. In terms of early rebleeding, EC was less effective than EBL.
