Risk factors of early mortality and morbidity in esophageal atresia with distal tracheo-esophageal fistula: A population-based cohort study
The Journal of Pediatrics Mar 12, 2021
Sfeir R, Rousseau V, Bonnard A, et al. - Researchers conducted the study for identifying the risk factors for early mortality and morbidity in a population with distal esophageal atresia (EA)-tracheoesophageal fistula. A total of 1,008 patients with a lower esophageal fistula were involved from January 1, 2008, to December 31, 2014. Data reported that the survival rate at 3 months was 94.9%. Findings suggested that early mortality is poor in EA, but morbidity is high during the first year of life. Identifying factors linked to morbidity may aid in the improvement of neonatal care for this population.
