Risk factors of acute kidney injury in children after cardiac surgery
Acta Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica Jul 18, 2018
Lee JH, et al. - In this retrospective study including 505 pediatric patients who underwent congenital cardiac surgery, researchers investigated the risk factors for acute kidney injury (AKI), including albumin, as well as assessed the link between preoperative serum albumin level and postoperative AKI in these patients by using multivariable logistic regression. They used the Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) criteria to determine AKI incidence within 7 postoperative days. In this study population, the identified risk factors for postoperative AKI included preoperative serum albumin level, age <12 months, preoperative pulmonary hypertension, and cardiopulmonary bypass duration.
