Risk factors for the progression from low to high titres in 260 children with severe haemophilia A and newly developed inhibitors

Mancuso ME, et al. - The factors that could potentially confer risk for progression from low-titre to high-titre inhibitors in children with severe haemophilia A and newly diagnosed inhibitors were determined in this study. Null F8 mutations, family history of inhibitors and the use of high-dose immune tolerance induction were found to be associated with the progression to high-titre inhibitors. Researchers recommended avoiding high-dose immune tolerance induction as the initial strategy in patients who develop low-titre factor VIII inhibitors.
