Risk factors for symptomatic retears after arthroscopic repair of full- thickness rotator cuff tears
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Aug 28, 2020
Lobo-Escolar L, Ramazzini-Castro R, Codina-Grano D, et al. - This study was sought to evaluate factors influencing a rotator cuff symptomatic retear after arthroscopic repair have yet to be clearly distinguished since they usually affect surgical decisions. Researchers retrospectively examined consecutive patients with a full-thickness tear of the supraspinatus who underwent arthroscopic repair. They distinguished cases of symptomatic retear, defined as Sugaya type IV and V on magnetic resonance imaging, associated with intensive pain and/or functional impairment at follow-up. This research noted the support of the hypothesis that both depression and corticosteroid infiltration before surgery are independent risk factors for symptomatic retear after arthroscopic repair of the rotator cuff.
