Risk factors for strabismus following glaucoma drainage device implantation for refractory childhood glaucoma

Talsania SD, et al. - Researchers retrospectively examined the medical records of 81 consecutive patients who underwent glaucoma drainage device (GDD) implantation for refractory childhood glaucoma at Duke Eye Center for the possible risk factors for strabismus following GDD implantation. They noted a high risk for strabismus among children with refractory childhood glaucoma. The risk increases after GDD implantation. For new or worsened post-GDD strabismus, no clear risk factors were identified in this study.
