Bundy JD, et al. - Among patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), researchers assessed the associations of novel risk factors with coronary artery calcification (CAC) progression. They found that in these subjects, the factors that could progress CAC, independent of established cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors, were reduced kidney function, calcium and phosphate metabolism disorders, and inflammation.
