BMC Pregnancy and Childbirth Jul 16, 2019
Islam M, et al. - The factors responsible for pregnancy-related complications in urban slum and non-slum areas are investigated via analyzing data from the Urban Health Survey, 2013, by applying mixed logistic regression model. Researchers identified an increased risk of pregnancy-related complications in correlation to early maternal age, primiparity, unwanted pregnancy, women living in slum areas, women migrating from other cities or non-urban areas and NGO membership among urban women in Bangladesh. This suggests that the maternal mortality and morbidity in Bangladesh could be reduced via addressing these risk factors for complications to the policymakers.
