Risk factors for polypharmacy in older adults in a primary care setting: A cross-sectional study
Clinical Interventions in Aging Oct 25, 2018
Ersoy S, et al. - In a total of 1,000 patients aged ≥ 65 years who visited Melek Hatun Family Practice Center between December 1, 2014, and August 1, 2017, researchers evaluated daily drug consumption (DDC) and identified the risk factors for higher DDC. For each patient, they carried out comprehensive geriatric assessment. Using SPSS software (version 17), the performed data analysis, and used Pearson’s correlation to assess the links between DDC and other continuous variables. Findings revealed a significant and independent association of depressive symptoms and an inflammatory marker (neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio), along with certain chronic conditions, with higher DDC.
