Bluett J, et al. - Researchers sought to assess the rate and predictors of oral MTX failure (defined as MTX cessation or the addition of another anti-rheumatic drug) in patients with early inflammatory polyarthritis (IP). An increased risk of MTX failure due to inefficacy was noted in the rheumatoid factor (RF)-positive inflammatory polyarthritis patients who were younger with higher baseline disease activity. As a first-line treatment, combination therapy could be required for such patients.
