Risk factors for low back pain in childhood and adolescence: A systematic review
The Clinical Journal of Pain Apr 12, 2018
Calvo-Muñoz I, et al. - Researchers conducted a systematic review to determine factors associated with low back pain (LBP) in children and adolescents. Thirty-five demographic, clinical, biological, family, psychological, ergonomic, and lifestyle risk factors were assessed in the included studies. The mean (range) prevalence of LBP ranged between 15.25% for point prevalence and 38.98% for lifetime prevalence. Inconsistent results regarding the association between LBP and risk factors were noted. “Older age” and “participation in competitive sports” were noted to have a consistent association with LBP in the sensitivity analysis.
