Risk factors for intraoperative saddle nose deformity in septoplasty patients

Lee JJ, et al. - Investigators analyzed the candidates to study the risk factors for intraoperative saddle nose in a group of septoplasty cases. They observed intraoperative saddle nose in 108 of 2106 individuals who underwent septoplasty in from January 2008 to December 2017. A total of 216 randomly selected, hospital-matched septoplasty subjects with no intraoperative saddle nose deformity in the same period were categorized under the control group. They noticed the following risk factors correlated with intraoperative saddle nose: female sex, severe caudal septal deviation, and intraoperative finding of septal cartilage fracture.
