Risk factors for influenza B virus–associated pneumonia in adults
American Journal of Infection Control Aug 25, 2019
Dai Z, Fan K, Zhang L, et al. - The risk factors for influenza B virus–associated pneumonia in adults were investigated using viral surveillance data during the pandemic season between November 2017 and April 2018 from the University of Hong Kong-Shenzhen Hospital medical record database. Researchers assessed a total of 78 patients (aged 20-87 years) with influenza B virus. Non-specific patchy shadows in chest radiograph were the most frequently observed chest radiograph abnormality in influenza B virus–associated pneumonia in adults. As per logistic regression models, chronic respiratory diseases and shortness of breath were independent risk factors for influenza B virus-associated pneumonia in adults.
