Risk factors for infectious complications following transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy

Wu YP, et al. - Following transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy (TRUSPB) the risk factors of infectious complications were investigated via retrospectively analyzing 1,203 patients with suspected prostate cancer who underwent TRUSPB at their center between December 2012 and December 2016. They obtained demographics, clinical characteristics, and data regarding complications. Multivariate logistic regression analyses yielded body mass index (BMI)>28.196 kg/m2, history of diabetes, and preoperative catheterization as independent risk factors for infection following prostate biopsy.
