Risk factors for early bleeding complications after lung transplantation - A retrospective cohort study
Transplant International Aug 17, 2019
Adelmann D, Koch S, Menger J, et al. - Coagulation test results and the use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation were evaluated as risk factors for bleeding after lung transplantation. In this single-center cohort of bilateral lung transplants between January 2009 and August 2015, severe postoperative bleeding was noted in 29 (4.5%) out of 641 patients. Risk factors for bleeding after lung transplantation were low postoperative fibrinogen levels, and pre and postoperative use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Researchers observed decreased survival within 60 days after transplantation in correlation with severe postoperative bleeding.
