Risk factors for distal stent graft-induced new entry tear after endovascular repair of thoracic aortic dissection
Journal of Vascular Surgery Jan 09, 2019
Canaud L, et al. - Researchers investigated the incidence, outcomes, and risk factors for distal stent graft-induced new entry (SINE) after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) of aortic dissection via performing a review according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines. They analyzed 7 articles reporting on 1415 patients with thoracic aortic dissection undergoing TEVAR without supplemental distal bare stenting. TEVAR is established to provide successful management of complicated descending thoracic aortic dissections. However, distal SINE is relatively frequent, if it does occur, additional TEVAR can generally be applied to treat the complication without a poor outcome. Excessive distal oversizing seems to be the main determinant of SINE.
