Risk factors for coronary artery ectasia and the relationship between hyperlipidemia and coronary artery ectasia
Coronary Artery Disease Apr 17, 2019
Qin Y, et al. - In this prospective cohort study, researchers identified factors that conferred risk for coronary artery ectasia (CAE) and examined the link between serum lipid and CAE. From January 2010 to June 2018, the admissions in Zhongda Hospital affiliated to Southeast University, due to typical or atypical chest discomfort suggestive of angina were included in this study. Participants were 100 consecutive patients with CAE. A control group comprising 100 consecutive patients with coronary atherosclerosis and no ectasia was also included. The two groups were compared with respect to general data, cardiovascular risk factors, blood examination index, and coronary angiography data. The identified risk factors for CAE included sex, BMI, diastolic blood pressure, D-dimer, triglyceride, and low-density lipoprotein/high-density lipoprotein (LDL/HDL) ratio. Hyperlipidemia was identified as a good predictor of CAE.
