Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology Jun 14, 2019
Berman N, et al. - In this retrospective, cross-sectional study involving 225 patients, researchers compared the risk factors for caries between patients with primary Sjogren syndrome (SS) and those with non-Sjogren syndrome (NSS) salivary hypofunction and identified the prevalence of incisal or cervical/root caries in each group. According to findings, SS-secondary salivary hypofunction patients have a higher risk of caries vs patients with salivary hypofunction induced by other variables. This finding has not been correlated with salivary flow rates in this study cohort.
