Risk factors for 30-day hospital readmission after radical gastrectomy: A single-center retrospective study

Gastric Cancer Jul 18, 2018

Asaoka R, et al. - A single-center retrospective study was conducted to assess the risk factors for readmission within 30 days of discharge following gastrectomy. Participants in the study were 1,929 patients who had radical gastrectomy at Shizuoka Cancer Center. To recognize risk factors for 30-day hospital readmission, researchers conducted a risk analysis with a stepwise logistic regression model. It was observed that the 30-day readmission rate was 2.70%. Independent risk factors for readmission were C reactive protein (CRP) on a postoperative day (POD) 3 ≥ 12 mg/dl, laparoscopic surgery, and TG.
