Risk factors associated with persistent anterior uveitis after cataract surgery

Reddy AK, et al. - Medical records of 2019 candidates were studied in this retrospective cohort study between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2016, at the University of Colorado Hospital to assess the risk factors for persistent anterior uveitis (PAU) development after uncomplicated phacoemulsification cataract extraction in subjects without histories of uveitis or auto-immune diseases. They noted developed PAU among 61 eyes from 48 cases. The prevalence of PAU was observed more among African Americans than Caucasians, following uncomplicated phacoemulsification cataract extraction. They did not find worse visual acuity (VA) in PAU cases.
