Risk factors associated with functional dyspepsia in Chinese children: A cross-sectional study
BMC Gastroenterology May 16, 2021
Wei Z, Yang X, Xing X, et al. - Researchers performed this cross-sectional study to evaluate the diet-related risk factors associated with functional dyspepsia (FD) based on the Rome IV criteria and to identify other risk factors associated with FD in Chinese children. Data were analyzed from eight representative primary and secondary schools to evaluate the risk factors associated with FD in Chinese children based on the Rome IV criteria in Shaanxi province, China, from March 2017 to September 2017. In total, 6,976 Chinese children [mean age 14.3 ± 2.5 years] were enrolled, including 209 with FD and 6,767 without. Independent risk factors for FD included age, living independent of parents, prolonged school meals, never eating breakfast, often/daily eating cold foods, and frequently eating pickled foods. The nomogram has the potential to be used as a quick screening tool for FD in Chinese children.
