American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology Jan 23, 2018
Teefey CP, et al. - Women with class III obesity (Body Mass Index (BMI)≥40kg/m2) undergoing induction of labor (IOL) were investigated for the factors that were associated with cesarean delivery (CD). In the study cohort, CD rate after IOL approached 50% and increased to >60% in women with a BMI≥50. The most significant risk factors for CD included BMI 50-59.9, nulliparity and height. A reduction in the risk of CD was observed with a more dilated cervical exam.
