Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma Oct 29, 2017
Ciufo DJ, et al. - This study was performed to assess the association of cephalomedullary nail cutout with the presence of the following radiographic variables in patients sustaining trochanteric femur fractures: lateral wall fracture, posteromedial fragment, angular malreduction, residual basicervical fracture gapping, screw placement, and tipÂapex distance. Modifiable or nonmodifiable risk factors for cutout of trochanteric fractures were identified, which included lateral wall fracture (nonmodifiable) as well as basicervical gapping and malreduction (modifiable) as statistically significant factors.
