Risk factors and prognosis value of venous thromboembolism in patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer: A case-control study
Journal of Thoracic Disease Jan 12, 2018
Shen Q, et al. - Researchers pursued this investigation to determine the incidence, risk factors and prognosis of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in the patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in an advanced or metastatic stage (stage III or IV), presuming that NSCLC patients associated with VTE may lead to poor prognosis. In this work, among advanced NSCLC patients, a high incidence of VTE was reported, particularly for those with weight loss, poor performance status (PS), increased C-reaction-protein (CRP) and long prothrombin time (PT). Furthermore, data indicated that patients with VTE complications may have a poorer prognosis.
