Risk factors and outcome of postoperative delirium after transcatheter aortic valve replacement
Clinical Research in Cardiology Apr 20, 2018
Stachon P, et al. - Researchers studied the incidence, risk factors, and in-hospital outcomes of postoperative delirium (POD) following transfemoral (TF-AVR) and transapical (TA-AVR) transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) using administrative data on all patients undergoing isolated TAVR in Germany in 2014. An increased risk for in-hospital mortality was seen among patients who developed POD post-TAVR, yet stroke and bleeding, but not POD, independently predicted mortality, after adjusting for postoperative events and comorbidities.
