Bennett GH, et al. - Risk factors and outcomes associated with fixed airflow obstruction (FAO) in older adults with asthma were determined in this study. Advanced age, African American race, increased asthma duration, and male sex were identified as risk factors related to FAO in older adults with asthma. In older patients with asthma, no independent association of FAO with worsened asthma control, quality of life, or exacerbations was noted, unlike younger patients.
