Risk factors and clinical characteristics of deep knee infection in patients with intra-articular injections: A matched retrospective cohort analysis
Seminars in Arthritis and Rheumatism Oct 28, 2017
Xu C, et al. - Researchers scrutinized the risk factors for deep knee infection (DKI). Additionally, they elucidated the clinical characteristics of DKI in patients who received intra-articular (IA) injections. It was determined that body mass index ≥ 25 kg/m2, corticosteroid injections, rheumatoid arthritis and injections performed by general practitioners served as the risk factors in the study cohort. A comprehension of these risk factors could offer improved guidance on IA injections and knowledge of DKI in patients with IA injections, especially in chronic low-grade infection (CLGI) patients.
