Risk factors and associated outcomes of early acute kidney injury in pediatric liver transplant recipients: A retrospective study

Zhang Y, et al. - Researchers performed a retrospective study of 80 pediatric liver transplant patients in order to determine the risk factors for and associated outcomes of acute kidney injury (AKI) in these patients. Outcomes revealed that risk of AKI was higher among pediatric liver transplant recipients who had biliary atresia, increased time of anhepatic phase, and a lower postoperative jaundice clearance. Patients who developed AKI vs those having non-acute kidney injury seemed to have worse long-term outcomes.
