Journal of Pediatric Surgery May 25, 2019
Kauffman JD, et al. - Researchers examined all patients in the 2012–2016 American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program Pediatric database for the incidence, risk factors, and morbidity of postoperative urinary tract infections (UTI). A postoperative UTI developed in 1964 (0.5%) among 369,176 patients indicating the uncommon occurrence of UTI in the pediatric population. Risk factors for postoperative UTI comprised undergoing urological and neurosurgical procedures, diabetes, ventilator dependence, and dependence on nutritional support.
