Rising incidences of Warthin’s tumors may be linked to obesity: A single-institutional experience

Kadletz L, et al. - In this retrospective study, 197 subjects with Warthin’s tumor were evaluated to assess the impact of metabolic syndrome, including obesity on the incidence of Warthin’s tumors. The tumor size, the body mass index (BMI), comorbidities related to the metabolic syndrome, and cigarette and alcohol consumption were observed. They noted a significantly higher BMI among candidates with Warthin’s tumor as compared to other benign parotid gland tumor cases. an association of higher rate of metabolic syndrome-associated comorbidities was noticed with Warthin’s tumor.
