Rhinosinusitis in solid organ transplant recipients: Analysis of 4,562 transplanted patients
American Journal of Rhinology & Allergy Oct 31, 2018
Tzelnick S, et al. - Experts evaluated the characteristics and disease course of rhinosinusitis (RS) in solid organ transplant recipients (n=4,562). In this study population, researchers found that acute fulminant infection or sinusitis complications were much lower than expected. Less frequent chronic RS (CRS) was noted in this patient group than expected as well. Findings suggested the probability of a more surgically oriented approach in patients with CRS to be favored early in the management course of medically refractory patients in light of excellent outcomes. More frequent surgical intervention was found in lung transplant recipients. They did not find any specific disease or surgical complications.
