Klinaki E, et al. - Using medical history data from 26,331 participants in the Greek arm of the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition, researchers investigated the relative risk of cancer development in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients, after taking into consideration treatment modalities. Because of either underlying complex disease pathways or treatment agents targeting immune function, RA patients were noted to be at higher cancer risk. This risk seemed decreased in association with salicylates administration.
