Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology Jun 11, 2019
Blijleven EE, et al. - Otosclerosis patients undergoing revision stapes surgery following previous middle ear interventions were evaluated for pure-tone audiometric results. Researchers conducted a retrospective cohort study of 63 consecutive otosclerosis patients who underwent 66 revision stapes surgeries. Significant improvement in the air-bone gap with a mean gain of 19 dB and in the air conduction with a mean gain of 18 dB. This study indicated the achievement of a slightly larger gain in air conduction and air-bone gap when compared to the available literature. In this study, air-bone gap closure to 10 dB or less was less frequently achieved.
