Reverse total shoulder arthroplasty clinical and patient-reported outcomes and complications stratified by pre-operative diagnosis: A systematic review
Journal of Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Oct 28, 2020
Kennedy J, Klifto CS, Ledbetter L, et al. - This study was undertaken to explore variations in clinical and patient reported outcomes (PROs), and complication type and rate amongst preoperative diagnoses following reverse total shoulder arthroplasty: rotator cuff tear arthropathy, primary osteoarthritis, massive irreparable rotator cuff tear, proximal humeral fracture (PHFx), rheumatoid arthritis, and revision of anatomic arthroplasty. Researchers carried out to search three electronic databases from inception to January 2020. They enrolled a total of 53 studies: 36 (68%) were level IV retrospective case series. It was reported that RTSA literature was predominantly high risk of bias. According to the results, all preoperative diagnoses improved; Rev indicated worse clinical and PROs and RA had higher complication rates. RTSA preoperative diagnosis can effect outcome and complications.
