Weber CD, et al. - This study gauged the effect of polytrauma on sporting prowess, emphasizing primarily on isolating, particularly debilitating musculoskeletal trauma. Polytrauma resulted in an enforced shift from high-impact and team sports to low-impact activities. Injuries of the lower extremities, especially around the knee joint, seemed to exert the highest lifechanging impact and prevented individuals from returning to their previous sporting activities.
