Bansal A, et al. - This study intended to gain a better insight into the recovery time and complications following surgical excision for hook of the hamate fractures. Findings demonstrated that surgical excision represented a safe treatment for hook of the hamate fractures in most of the cases and afforded a relatively rapid return to play, however, the incidence of complications, including transient ulnar nerve dysfunction, was higher than previously reported. In addition, there was a group of patients with delayed return to play and continued discomfort after surgery.
