Retrospective analysis of 1-year mortality after gastric cancer surgery: Total intravenous anesthesia vs volatile anesthesia

Oh TK, et al. - Researchers examined patients who underwent gastric cancer surgery with propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia (TIVA) vs inhalation anesthesia regarding the 1-year overall or cancer-related mortality. In this retrospective cohort study, they included 1538 patients (769 patients in each group) after propensity score matching in the final analysis. Outcomes revealed no significantly reduced 1-year overall or cancer-related mortality after gastric cancer surgery in correlation to propofol-based TIVA vs inhalation anesthesia.
