Retinal ganglion cell complex and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thicknesses following carotid endarterectomy
International Ophthalmology Jun 29, 2018
Guclu O, et al. - Experts evaluated the changes in retinal ganglion cell complex (GCC) and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thicknesses by optical coherence tomography (OCT) in contralateral and ipsilatateral eyes of carotid artery stenosis (CAS) patients before and after carotid endarterectomy (CEA). Thinning of the superior peripapillary RNFL thickness was resulted by carotid endarterectomy. In the first-ever study to examine this topic, findings did not suggest a significant difference in the retinal GCC layer thickness before and after CEA in ipsilateral and contralateral eyes.
