Resolvin D1 suppresses pannus formation via decreasing connective tissue growth factor caused by upregulation of miRNA-146a-5p in rheumatoid arthritis
Arthritis Research & Therapy Apr 02, 2020
Sun W, Ma J, Zhao H, et al. - The present study was conducted to investigate the impact of resolvin D1 (RvD1) on pannus formation in RA and the underlying mechanism. Researchers ascertained serum levels of RvD1 and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients and healthy persons by UPLC-MS/MS and ELISA respectively. Via qRT-PCR and ELISA, the levels of CTGF and inflammatory factors were measured. They ascertained MicroRNA expression profile by miRNA microarray. Using tube formation and chick chorioallantoic membrane assays, the impacts of CTGF, RvD1, and miR-146a-5p on angiogenesis were assessed. The outcomes of this study indicate that RvD1 is prone to alleviate RA progression through the upregulation of miRNA-146a-5p to suppress the expression of CTGF and inflammatory mediators, thereby decreasing pannus formation and cartilage damage.
