Resistance training-induced gains in muscle strength, body composition, and functional capacity are attenuated in elderly women with sarcopenic obesity

de Oliveira Silva A, et al. - In elderly women with and without sarcopenic obesity (SO), body composition, muscle strength, and functional capacity were compared following resistance training (RT). The elderly women with SO exhibited attenuated adaptations induced by 16 weeks of RT, as a result of which, improvements in adiposity indices and gains in muscle strength and functional capacity were compromised in these women.
