Research on clinical characteristics and prognostic analysis of heparin- induced thrombocytopenia after surgery for acute type A aortic dissection
Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery Apr 24, 2021
Zhou CZ, Feng DJ, Fang Y, et al. - Researchers sought to determine the clinical features of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) post-surgery for acute type A aortic dissection as well as conducted a relevant prognostic analysis. In the clinical setting, 38 suspected HIT patients, 16 HIT patients and 188 non-HIT patients were selected. Of them, HIT patients had prolonged cardiopulmonary bypass time and delayed aortic cross-clamp time, and these disparities between HIT cases and non-HIT cases were significant. Findings revealed that HIT patients suffered postoperative complications post-surgery for acute type A aortic dissection, and these patients were found to have extended duration of ventilatory support and length of ICU stay as well as increased incidence of thromboembolism. HIT antibody identification as well as risk classification are advised to be implemented for high-risk cases demonstrating early clinical features.
