Reproducibility of lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI) assessment in endometrial cancer
Histopathology Jun 07, 2019
Peters EEM, et al. - Through a study the researchers intended to discriminate true lymphovascular space invasion (LVSI, an important prognostic variable impacting on a patient's individual recurrence risk and adjuvant treatment recommendations) from LVSI-mimics (phase 1) and reproducibility of grading extent of LVSI (phase 2) via evaluation of inter-observer agreement. Assessment and hosting of scanned haematoxylin and eosin slides of endometrioid EC with a predefined possible LVSI-focus on a website were carried out. Important role of LVSI in decision algorithms for auxiliary treatment, given the good reproducibility of LVSI, was noticed.
