Repeated cesarean delivery predicted a higher risk of inadequate analgesia than primary cesarean delivery: A retrospective study with propensity score match analysis
Journal of Pain Research Mar 22, 2020
Yang G, Bao X, Peng J, et al. - The analgesic outcomes between primary and repeated cesarean delivery were compared. Performing a retrospective analysis on the medical records of a teaching hospital in China from January 2018 to March 2019, inclusion of 1,543 patients was done. According to the propensity score, they matched 571 pairs (1,142 patients) in the primiparas and multiparaparas group. Outcomes revealed a significantly higher risk of inadequate postoperative pain treatment among multiparas that undergo a repeat cesarean delivery vs primiparas. They recommend considering the maternal category when formulating the postoperative analgesia strategy after cesarean delivery.
