Repeat coronary bypass surgery or percutaneous coronary intervention after previous surgical revascularization
Mayo Clinic Proceedings Sep 08, 2019
Locker C, Greiten LE, Bell MR, et al. - In patients with previous coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), researchers evaluated long-term survival with repeat CABG (RCABG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). One thousand six hundred twelve Mayo Clinic patients underwent RCABG (n = 215) or PCI (n = 1,397) after previous CABG from January 1, 2000, through December 31, 2013. Findings suggested an association of RCABG with improved long-term survival after previous CABG, particularly compared with PCI involving bypass grafts. Patients treated with drug-eluting stent had better survival for 10 years than patients treated with bare metal stent alone.
