Renal trauma increases risk of future hypertension
Urology Mar 16, 2018
Osterberg EC, et al. - In this review, the researchers aimed to determine whether traumatic renal injuries and/or computed tomography (CT) findings were predictive of hypertension (HTN) development after injury. They found the increasing renal trauma grade to be a risk factor for the development of HTN in future. Higher possibility of developing HTN was noted in the patients with a mid-pole medial laceration and medial blood on CT compared to patients without these characteristics. At trauma presentation, CT findings could be useful in stratifying subjects who are at increased risk.
