Pilch NA, et al. - Researchers measured estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) slope while evaluating the variability of this slope and whether poorer long-term outcomes were predicted by high variability occurring at any time post-transplant in a large cohort of kidney transplant recipients. This study provides a novel analysis of the utility of eGFR variability in a large cohort. For predicting long-term graft outcomes and for facilitating early patient discussions to change the trajectory of allograft function, it may be helpful to use the slope of eGFR and eGFR variability in the clinical settings.
