Renal function predicts long-term outcome on enzyme replacement therapy in patients with Fabry disease
Nephrology Dialysis Transplantation Dec 14, 2017
Lenders M, et al. - In a population of patients with Fabry disease (FD), researchers analyzed the impact of renal and cardiac function at enzyme replacement therapy (ERT)-naïve baseline on end point development despite ERT. They found that FD progression on ERT was determined by even moderately impaired renal function, in addition to age. For preventing FD patients from deleterious manifestations of the disease, renal and cardiac protection is warranted.
